Day 20: Bioncles vs Ogres

Although my technical troubles continue, we managed to churn out our 20th episode... a few simple thoughts on books and libraries.

BTW - I read the first chapter of the Bioncles book with Little K, and I STILL have no idea what they are! Here's what I know so far: they are some kind of robotic lifeforms with terribly complex names that exist merely to showcase how anyone over the age of 12 is totally unhip. Anyone care to shed more light on this phenomenon?

Day 4: Into the Sunshine

Excerpt from "The Fountain"
By James Russell Lowell
From my grandmother's book simply titled, Favorite Poems

Into the sunshine,
Full of the light,
Leaping and flashing
From morn till night!

Day 3: New Occasions Teach New Duties

Excerpt from "The Present Crisis"
By James Russell Lowell
From my grandmother's book simply titled, Favorite Poems

New occasions teach new duties; Time makes ancient good uncouth;
They must upward still, and onward, who would keep abreast of Truth;
Lo, before us gleam her camp-fires! we ourselves must Pilgrims be,
Launch our Mayflower, and steer boldly through the desperate winter sea,
Not attempt the Future's portal with the Past's blood-rusted key.

Correction: Can you tell I never taught math? Twice in the video I mention that 168 days remain in the school year. Of course, what I meant to say was "178 days"... but even that would have been wrong. Technically, on "day 3" there are 177 days remaining. Good thing no one's watching this yet. ; )

Day 2: She Comes with Fairy Footsteps

Excerpt from "Little Rose"
By Blackwood's Mag
From my grandmother's book simply titled, Favorite Poems

She comes with fairy footsteps;
Softly their echoes fall;
And her shadow plays, like summer shade,
Across the garden wall.
The golden light is dancing bright
'Mid the mazes of her hair,
And her fair young locks are waving free
To the wooing of the air.

Day 1: Electric Essence Permeates the Air

The Telegram - June 9, 1926

Excerpt from "An Acrostic"
By F.A.
From my grandmother's book simply titled, Favorite Poems

Electric essence permeates the air,
Lighting the heavens with its brilliant glare,
Encircling planets in its huge embrace,
Controlling all the elements of space.
'Tis this that sways the immortal mind,
Refines and elevates all human kind.
In it the spirit finds its highest light,
Celestial source of God, the Infinite.
