In 2007 I had this great idea... wouldn't it be fun to combine my professional career as an education innovator/entrepreneur with my personal "career" as a father of two kids in grade school? The idea was simple: for every day of the school year, I'd post a fun, witty video commentary about the intersection between education reform and the reality of attending public school in the 'burbs. Brilliant. Kat was in 2nd grade. Ky was in Kindergarten. And Q was still baking. About 40 days in, I realized there was no way to keep it up, and then once Q was born it was all over. Another abandoned blog lost in the interwebs.
Fast forward to the fall of 2014 where we now have three kids in three different schools: Q is a 1st grader, Ky is in 7th grade, and Kat just started high school. High school! If there ever was a time to resurrect this, it's now. Their experiences will be so different, that I want to make sure we capture it all: the successes, the failures, the tears, the laughs, the friends, the heartbreaks, and, of course, the learning. I just hope the kids learn as much as I do.
